Powerful, heavy old shaftie

I bought my ´79 KZ1000ST about six weeks ago and have been having a good time fixing this and that. Basic reliability seems bulletproof. Mine was owned by a very heavy couple who put oversized rear shocks on it - an interesting contrast to the soft and soggy front end. So this one is tall and top-heavy, one with stock rear shocks shouldn´t be as bad. Push one around a bit before you buy one. Cruises with 350 lb load at 85 mph effortlessly. A bit of tingle at highway speeds but not enough to be tiring. Don´t expect much support from Kawasaki, but used parts are still fairly common. If you don´t like the gearing stay away from the shaft version.
