96k isn\´t a lot of miles (or kilometers) at all. If well maintained, they will run a very, very long time. Check the belts often, and watch for overheating when parked in traffic. The rads can develope pinholes and stopleak will fix it for awhile. I\´ve got a 73 sportster (bought new) in my garage next to a gsx-r 1100. There is something to be said for japanese reliability. The 1200\´s have a huge problem with their stader\´s failing, and I hate to be doom and gloom, but if you ask any owner of a 12, they will tell you it\´s not a case of if, but when. A simple fix for the overheating is an auxilary fan, activated by a toggle switch. That way you only have to use it when needed. Hope this helped.
