91 Suzuki Bandit 400 discussion forum: Restrict the beast?

Hi. I\´ve passed my A2 a couple of months ago, and I\´ve just seen the bike of my dreams, it a 1991 Bandit 400.
Obviously I\´ll have to restrict it to 33break. Legend had it that 4s suffer badly with being choked off, and I\´ve been reccomended a parallel twin instead.
What do you think? Will it still perform OK or would I be better off with something like a GS500?
