93 Yamaha XV 750 Virago discussion forum: Low fuel light

The other day my 750 virago\´s main tank ran out of gas, and the low fuel light did not come on until I swicthed to the reserve. Is this supposed to happen?? Or is my light jst not fuctioning properly??
