Just read your words regarding the sprint executive. I recently bought a well used but well maintained one, as a interim bike while I decide what new or newer bike I really want. I am amazed at the refinement and overall balance of this machine when riding it. When I look at it, I think of it as a ten year old design and want more, but when I ride it I am impressed. The longer I have it (3 months) and ride it, I am considering putting som money into it to improve it am possibly enhance the cosmetics. I want new pipes and have considered staintune, but they would cost one third the cost of the bike and as of now I am undecided. I did not know d and d makes pipe for it. You say they are loud....how loud? Did you need to change the jets? With three carbs, it is a hassle. I am also considring some for fork changes from racetech, as the handling in tight corners is unsatisfying. Mine is a 1998 and otherwise superstable and user friendly. I drove a new sprint and was impressed. More sporting, but less room and the mirrors seemed cheap in comparison. sometimes a manufacturer makes improvements to reach a goal or marketplace demands and loses other qualities...........I am wondering if this might be the case. Again, when in the saddle, it is very satisfying. I have also noticed as you did there are few aftermarket accessories for this model, which takes some fun out. By the way, mine has 51K miles, but runs and feels like near new. I am impressed with that.
