Hi there! I´ll try to be short and to the point with this one... I´m currently in Zanzibar (Tanzania, Africa) and am looking to buy an enduro in Switzerland to have shipped down here (first will tour the mountains for 3 weeks). First limitation is brands as the only spare parts I´ll ever find down here will be for Honda and Yamaha (more Honda though).
I´ve been looking at the Honda XR650L, XR650R (favorite on the list), XL650, XL650R and FMX650. Problem is I can´t easily find them in Switzerland and they don´t really fit within my budget... Therefore I´ve also been looking at what is easily available and that is mainly Transalp XL600V, the Africa Twin XR750V and the Dominator NX650.
There is currently a 1998 Transalp XL600V available for a good price. But I´m still not convinced by this bulky, heavy, not great-looking bike... I´ve also managed to find a 2001 Dominator (my opinion is slightly higher for the Dominator but not by much). Thing is I need an enduro that does well on the road (specially for the first month of use in Europe) as well as off of the beaten track. Not that I´ll be doing extreme off-road here, but there are some nasty (yet extremely fun!) dirt tracks out here and I have my doubts on the off-road capabilities of the Transalp, Africa Twin and Dominator.
Could you possibly give me any more details on these bikes?
