After gas prices hit 3 a gallon, I bought my first motorcycle. I am 59.. I don´t know too much about them, but my 05 KLR seems to be getting better than the advertised 50 miles per gallon. Can someone tell me about replacing the kick stand... It seems awfully small at the base... Do these motorcycles have problems standing up in strong winds.... I live in a mountain valley and try to keep it fairly level; it seems that one of those double stands would lend more stability. Is that true? Also, I must say that I really enjoy riding it but sometimes have trouble getting it from first into neutral so that starting it is less than completely efficient. In any case, I hope that my skills with this electric starter improve because oten I get just a click.. One other addition I might add to the bike is a more protective chain guard..... Does anyone have some thoughts about this? Where I might buy one from a website.... the web purchase could also involve the kickstand... One last thought.... Do motorcycle service people resent doing service on a machine which was not bought from them? Thanks for your attention.... I look forward to reading any responses.... I really like the KLR 650.
