Keith, I have had no experience to date with the ´06 KLR. I have an 05 and assuming nothing has changed in engine architecture the only thing I can think of could be the cam chain tensioner, or something up in the valve train. Irregardless it would be covered under warranty so my first move would be back to the dealership. Let me know the outcome, so I can keep my ear open on mine!
