Tranny jolting at low speeds in 1st gear
Thomas Irving said 2004-12-22 02:53
I have a 2003 Limited Edition R1. Does any one else have the same problem that I do? Sometimes it is really embarassing. It all happens while driving slowly in an area such as a mall parking lot. I slow down to under 4 - 5 miles an hour in order to let this car turn down the parking rows. I attempt to engage the clutch while giving it a little gas(worked on all my other bikes) and 1st gear jolts and jerks as if some type of force does not want the clutch to engage. It sounds like a really loud, repetitive "tack" "tack". Does anyone have any information that could help me out. I have taken it to several Yamaha dealers only to find the same result - that it is normal. My extended warranty runs out in April. Thank you for any info.
