New Rider needs help choosing a bike!!!

Hey all, I´m 5´4 and 120lbs and just learned how to ride. I still need alot of practice and thus need to purchase a bike. The bike I learnt how to ride on is a honda 250 and I think it weights about 275lbs. I don´t know too much about bikes and but I know I want something that´s fairly light (not much bigger than what I learnt to ride). The only bike makers I´m really aware of that are good(not including harleys) and decent prices are Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, and Yamaha. I´m am looking into getting a used bike beginning that I am a beginner. In my search I´ve seen other makers such as Ducati, Buell, Moto Guzzi, and Triumph. Are any of them any good? or should I just stick with the previous 4 I mentioned? Also, what bike would you recommend for a beginner like me that want´s something light? I´ve been looking at cruisers and sport bikes, I don´t mind either for my first bike. Any comments would be greatly appreciated.
