hi Peter, My Name is David , i have recently bought the 1980 GSX 250 for my liscence, ive worked on the bike several times, i am a apprentice mechanic, and i had the same issue with the fuel leaking, it can be caused by the vaccum operated tap not closing properly and flooding the carbies, causing them to leak out of the breathers, or the choke isnt operating properly, seeing as how it adjustable, it workes on slides on both sides of the fuel cylynder, thay can stay open and cause leaking from numerous parts, hope i helped, David
