The same thing happened to me while i was riding mine after dark. In my case, the fuses (located under the seat in the fuse panel) were badly corroded and the highlight fuse holder was cracked and making a bad contact. I replaced the whole fuse assembly (cheap and easy to do) and haven´t had the problem since. If you have already checked the fuses, my appologies for the obvious response. Good luck.
