I hadnīt noticed the clamp marks on the forks but have noticed that much of what looks like chrome is actually platsic and I agree- cheesy is a good word, but, I suppose they have to keep costs down somehow. In spite of a comment in one of the mags about it being $1500 more than the Kawasaki 2000, I still think that $16,000 is very reasonable for what you get.
Interesting your observation about slow sales in Sacramento. I was at my dealer in central Mass. yesterday for the first time since I bought the bike. I was told that the first six that people had ordered even before production began all went out the door on time and there have been no complaints; the dealer was then able to procure 3 additional machines and these have not sold. I was told that there have been many lookers but no takers. He told me many people are intimidated by the machine. I looked at him quizzically. He said, "Well look at it, itīs huge." I said, "I suppose...." My experience has been that this machine should be no problem for a moderately experienced rider. He then said for that matter they have had one Kawasaki 2000 on the floor since May and that hasnīt sold for the same reason, even after dropping the price a couple times. Oh well, I have no regrets about buying the RIII and have over 2000 miles on it.
