Its funny you have that problem because i have a 1977 750xs and 2nd gear is not even biting on my bike. I heard these bikes always had these problem and thats why yamaha changed to an 850. I have a parts bike that i am going to tear down and use the synchronizer for 2nd gear to see if thats the problem. Any further comments feel free to email.
