I have a 1995 Super III that I was very disappointed in from the dealer. It was a real dog off the line and seemed to have flat spots all the way up. At the time I had an AMA race team and had access to a dyno and top tuners. They discovered that the bike from the factory was running extremely lean. We put on a set of Yoshi headers and a Yoshi race muffler, slipped a race kit in the carbs along with K&N filters - and wow! It was a bike transformed! Anyone thinking of adding only K&N´s would need to re-jet as the bikes from the factory (at least this one) were running lean already. The bike now will run 90mph in low gear! I am looking in to lowering the motor sprocket by one tooth and see what that does to the low end performance, I can´t help but believe that it would be breath taking!
