hi, there are a few free mods you can do like changing the ignition mapping similar to the yzf this makes it rev at higher rpm, i have done this on my wr and havent found it all that fantastic. also you can cut holes in the plastic cover behind the air filter to increase airflow be carefull with this tho. if you search the net you will find how to videos on both these mods. regular maintaince is needed just like anything else with an engine.......oils lubes etc hope this helps
