Hi - any motorcycle in storage and unused needs the engine turning over every 3 months or so. You can do this by using the kick-start [if your bike has one] or by using the electric start. If you do not turn the engine over [make the pistons go up and down] then you are in danger of the oil falling downwards into the crank-case [gravity], meaning the piston rings can rust to the cylinder bores and seize the engine up [lock it solid]. If the engine does seize solid, it is a complete engine strip down, and a very expensive repair. So yes it is very important to turn the engine over regularly. The other thing you need to do if a bike is unused and in storage is to disconnect the battery and connect the battery to a ´trickle charger´. This keeps the battery charged up, and stops the battery flattening or degrading.
