Review of the 2006 Honda VTX 1300
VTX owner since 2007

This review is based on my experience made up of riding the Vtx 1300 S model which I purchased new for approx. 29000 miles. Review of the VTX 1300 submitted on 2012-08-27.
The motorcycle in general is fun to drive and well handling at highway speeds. At lower speeds however it takes on a top heavy feel with too much oversteer. It becomes tricky in a slow tight turn. All these issues are paled however by the clattering, rattling, knocking sounds coming from the engine at very slow speeds and at highway speeds when the engine is under load. The rattling vibration is at a power robbing damaging level which seems to increase with increased mileage on the bike. This much complained about and reported problem is not acknowleged by the dealers or Honda. The maint. records at the dealers are wiped out on a regular basis and so no stats exist. This in my opinion is an engine underdeveloped and once in production, what you buy is what you are stuck with. Due to the above issues which I have experienced, my next motorcycle purchase decision will be delt with accordingly.
